How to Apply Chinese Visa

You should make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months.

Here are the documents you shall prepare before submission:

Basic Documents
a. Passport - Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity (for double/multiple entries, it would be wise to have at least 1 year validity period) and with blank visa page, a photocopy of the passport's data page, observation page and the photo page if it is separate.

b. Visa Application Form - One completed Visa Application Form

c. Photo - Two recent 6 months colour passport photos (bare-head, full face, clear) against a white background (size: 48mm x 33mm) attached.

d. If you have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate, as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

Supporting Documents
Any one of the following documents:
a. Air ticket booking record.

b. Proof of a hotel reservation.

c. A letter of proof from travel agencies.

d. An Invitation Letter for Tourist issued by a relevant unit or individual in China.
i) An issuer of invitation letter who is an individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID (both front and back sides)
ii) The invitation letter may be in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original of the invitation letter.

e. For applicants under 18 years old, apart from the current documents, the following documents are also required:
i) Passport information page of their parents or guardians. And for non-passport holders, the photocopy of their Malaysia Identification Card and Marriage Certificate shall be provided.
ii) Photocopy of the applicant's Birth Certificate.



Prepare all the documents and submit your application at 
Chinese Visa Application Service Center.
Level 5 & 6, Hampshire Place Office,

Business hours:
Monday-Friday. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
Submission of applications (Level 5): 9:00 to 15:00.
Payment and collection (Level 6): 9:00 to 16:00.


Upon arrival at the Application Center (Level 5), proceed to the Reception Counter for documents check and a queue number will be given.

Wait for your number to be called. Submit your application at the counter and receive a pick-up form, which is a receipt showing the information of your application and expected date for collection.


The processing time is usually 4 working days for regular service.

Bring along the pick-up form on your collection date. Go to Level 6 for payment and collection.




How to Read Chinese Visa


Sample (A) - Single Entry Visa
① Enter Before 07 NOV 2015 - Visa is valid until this date, you cannot enter China after this date.
② Issue Date 07 AUG 2015 - Visa is issue on this date.
③ Entries 01(壹) - 01 means SINGLE entry Visa, you can used once (1) only. Stay not more than the days stated at ④.
④ Durations of Each Stay  090  Days After Entry - You may stay 90 days start from the day you enter China. DO NOT OVERSTAY!


Sample (B) - Double Entries Visa
① Enter Before 14 JUN 2017 - Visa is valid until this date, you cannot enter China after this date.
② Issue Date 14 MAR 2017 - Visa is issue on this date.
③ Entries 02(贰) - 02 means DOUBLE entries Visa, you can used this Visa twice (2) only. Each stay not more than the days stated at ④.
④ Durations of Each Stay  030  Days After Entry - You may stay 30 days start from the day you enter China. DO NOT OVERSTAY!
