Registration of Foreigner Marriage (Malaysian) to Chinese Nationals at China

Documents required by China local Bureau of Civil Affairs for Registration of Marriage between Foreigner and Chinese Nationals may varies at different Provinces.

Please contact China local Bureau of Civil Affairs near your fiancé/fiancées (Chinese Nationals) household registered address (户口所在地) for information and requirements.



Documents Required for Foreigner (Malaysian) for Registration of Marriage at China
a. Valid original passport
b. Original Certificate of Single Status and translated copy in Chinese language (legalized by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the foreign country or Consulate of the foreign country in China)
c. Three (3) half length photos of the you and your fiancé/fiancées (taken together) against a red background (size: 53mm x 35mm)



Submit all your documents together with your fiancé/fiancées documents at your local Bureau of Civil Affairs. Both of you need to fill up a Marriage Registration Application form (申请结婚登记声明书) in front of the officer.




The officer will review your submitted documents and approve the application. It might take a few minutes up to hours.

Upon approval, each of you and your fiancé/fiancées will get a Certificate of Marriage. Both of you are now Husband and Wife.

How to Apply Chinese Visa and How to Read Chinese Visa

How to Apply Chinese Visa You should make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months. Here are the documents you shall prepare before submission: Basic Documents a. Passport - Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity (for double/multiple entries, it would be wise to have at least 1 year validity period) and with blank visa page, a photocopy of the passport's data page, observation page and the photo page if it is separate. b. IMPORTANT! - What Should You Do Within 24 Hours of Arrival in China?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION Some people may not be aware that you should register yourself at local Police Station within 24 hours of arrival in China. Travel Regulations for Visitors and Tourists Too. All foreigners should register your temporary address at Police Station within 24 hours of your arrival in the country, no matter what type of visa you are holding. You need to re-register when  i. You exit China and enter again ii. You change your residence/accommodation address iii. You extend/change your Visa details in China If you are staying at hotel, hotel staff should register Temporary Residence for Visitors on your behalf. Get a copy of your registration from your hotel in case you needed it while you at China. If you stay at your host/friend/family house, you should register yourself at the nearest Police Station or Household Registration Office (户籍办公室) near your address within 24 hours (72 hours apply for Village/Countryside address).
